Fizz Executive


President: Nolan Ohmart

As President, Nolan represents the interests of 250 Engineering Physics students to the Physics & Astronomy department, Faculty of Applied Science, Engineering Undergraduate Society, and alumni. In addition, he chairs the Fizz executive meetings, oversees all activities of the association, and heads any additional projects.

Vice-President Academic: Sharada Balaji

As Vice-President Academic, Sharada is responsible for organizing all events relating to the academic and professional development of Engineering Physics students. These include the Technology & Science Seminar Series, the Graduate School Information Night, the Second-year Mentoring Program and the Fizz Tutoring Program.

Vice-President Events: Michael Ip

As Vice-President Events, Michael ensure that students maintain a healthy social life, by organizing and advertising a number of events throughout the year. These include the Welcome Back BBQ, Beer Gardens, Poker Night, Chess Tournament, LAN Party, Fizz vs. EWB Battle of the Bands, and any other events that they concoct. In addition, he spearheads the Fizz E-Week effort in February.

Treasurer: TBD

The Treasurer handles all of the financial activities and transactions of the Engineering Physics Student Association. This includes giving reimbursements to Fizzers, liaising with the AMS Finance office, and acting as one of the two booking representatives for the club.

Secretary:  TBD

The Secretary is the official minute-taker at all club meetings and liaises with the EUS VP Administration. They are responsible for organizing club elections in early March, as well as acting as a replacement signing officer.

Graduate Representative: Francis McGee

As Graduate Representative, Francis acts as a liaison between the Fizz executive and the graduating class of students. He is responsible for informing students about the current activities of the club and sells tickets for pertinent events. Furthermore, he co-ordinates the Graduate photographs and ensures that a composite is produced, gathers Iron Ring sizes from the graduates, and helps organize the UBC APSC Graduation Ceremony.

4th Year Representative: Alex Toews

As 4th Year Representative, Alex acts as a liaison between the Fizz executive and the 4th years in Eng. Phys. He is responsible for informing students about the current activities of the club and sells tickets for pertinent events. In addition, Alex helps to organize and execute many of the academic and social events.

3rd Year Representative: Emma Fajeau

Computer Overlord: Kevin Venalainen

Kevin is responsible for maintaining the Penthouse computers, wireless access, and printers. In addition, he updates and oversees the ubcfizz.com website and Fizz mailing lists.

Board of Studies MECH/MESC Representative: Amit Anand

As the Board of Studies Representative for MECH/MESC, Amit represents students in the mechanical or mechatronics options at the Department and Faculty Curriculum reviews. He also organizes Beef and Pizza events to hear your concerns with courses.

Board of Studies EECE Representatives: Casey Gu and Jannicke Pearkes

As the Board of Studies Representatives for EECE, Casey and Jannicke represent students in the electrical or computer science options at the Department and Faculty Curriculum reviews. They also organize Beef and Pizza events to hear your concerns with courses.

Sports Representative: Lucas Cahill

As Sports Representative, Lucas is responsible for communicating UBC REC leagues and event registration dates to fizzers through the club mailing list. In addition, he facilitates the organization of REC league teams from interested members and organizes an outdoor excursion for club members, such as white-water rafting, paint balling, or ski trips.

Penthouse Manager: Reid Nielson

Reid oversees all upgrades and maintenance of the Engineering Physics student room, known as the Penthouse. He is also the contact person for anyone wishing to obtain a Penthouse key or locker.

Pop God: Jordan Karyanto

As Pop God, Jordan ensures that there is a steady supply of drinks in the vending machine, and snacks in the freezer.
