The Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair (GVRSF - www.gvrsf.ca) is recruiting volunteers to lead UBC lab tours from 8:10am-10:30am on Friday April 9th.  You get to choose which lab to visit.  Please register to volunteer at http://reg.gvrsf.ca/login.php.

Every year 300 high school students from across the Lower Mainland participate in the GVRSF. One of the highlights for many of the participants is the 10-20 student tours of a scientific lab on the UBC campus.  Over 20 labs have signed up to host the tours and teach the students about their research.

Duties of the campus guide volunteers are:
  • Ensure they know the location of the lab.  All guides will be informed of their lab location by email.
  • Arrive at 8:10am at the second floor of the UBC SUB in front of the party room.
  • Lead the student tour (with another campus guide volunteer or parent volunteer) to and from the lab on the day of the fair
  • Ensure that all students return safely
  • Encourage participants to engage in the tour
  • Volunteers will be dismissed at 10:30am from the SUB.
All volunteers receive a personally addressed letter thanking them for the 2.5 hours of volunteering they did as campus tour leader.  The letters will include background information about the GVRSF and the importance of their volunteer work for the success of the GVRSF.

Please register to volunteer at http://reg.gvrsf.ca/login.php.  In addition to registering online you can e-mail me at philip AT gvrsf DOT ca if you have a specific question.  I will e-mail all registered volunteers a list of all of the lab tours so that they can choose which lab they would like to visit.

Thank you!

Philip (4th year Fizzer)
